Health & Safety Practices

At RA UK Scaffolding Limited, adhering to the latest health and safety regulations is essential to ensure the well-being of our workers and the success of our scaffolding projects. Below is an overview of the key regulations and practices we follow to maintain high standards of safety on all scaffolding sites.

Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015

These regulations aim to improve health and safety in the construction industry by ensuring that all parties involved in a project are aware of their responsibilities. This includes planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating health and safety during both the design and construction phases.

Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974

This fundamental piece of legislation requires employers to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of their employees and others who may be affected by their activities. It encompasses the provision of safe systems of work, safe use of equipment, and adequate training.

Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999

These regulations expand on the general duties outlined in the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. They require employers to carry out risk assessments, implement necessary measures to control risks, and provide employees with adequate health and safety training.

Working at Height Regulations 2005

These regulations specifically address the risks associated with working at height, which includes scaffolding. Employers must make sure that all work at height is properly planned, supervised, and carried out by competent individuals. Additionally, appropriate measures must be taken to prevent falls and protect workers from injury.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Workers must use appropriate PPE, including hard hats, safety boots and harnesses. PPE is essential to protect workers from falling objects and other potential hazards on the site.

Training & Competency

All personnel involved in scaffolding work must receive adequate training. This includes understanding the risks associated with scaffolding, proper use of equipment, emergency procedures, and first aid. Training makes sure that workers are competent and confident in their roles, reducing the likelihood of accidents.

Emergency Preparedness

Emergency plans must be in place to deal with potential incidents, such as falls or scaffold collapses. This includes having rescue equipment readily available and making sure that workers know how to respond in an emergency.
